The Half Marathon – A Virtual Endeavor:
The initial plan was to participate in the Coventry Half Marathon, a popular local event that brings together fitness enthusiasts from all walks of life. However, due to the pandemic, the event was cancelled, leaving many disappointed. But TalentTech saw an opportunity to turn this setback into something extraordinary.
Undeterred by the challenges, we organised a virtual half marathon, inviting people from around the world to join in the cause. Participants from, London, Wales, and as far as Dubai pledged their support and ran their own half-marathons, tracking their progress and sharing it on social media. The virtual event not only kept people engaged during lockdown but also brought attention to the cause, raising over £4,000 in the process.
The Triathlon – Pushing Boundaries:
With the success of the virtual half marathon fuelling our determination, we decided to up the ante and take on the Olympic triathlon. A team of ten members embarked on this intense challenge.
The Warwickshire landscape provided the perfect setting for the triathlon, which consisted of a 1.5 km swim, a 40 km bike ride through the county, and a gruelling 10 km run around the perimeter of Warwickshire. We put our physical and mental endurance to the test, proving that with teamwork and determination, any obstacle could be overcome.
Quiz Night – Fostering Community Spirit:
While the physical challenges were underway, TalentTech also focused on fostering a sense of community and involvement. We sponsored the annual The Air Ambulance quiz night, bringing together over 40 teams competing for the title of Quiz Champions. By donating raffle prizes and fielding our own team, we added another £500 to our fundraising efforts.
The Impact:
TalentTech Recruitment managed to raise an impressive £5,000 for The Air Ambulance through our combined efforts. This fantastic sum will make a significant difference in supporting the crucial work of The Air Ambulance in saving lives during emergencies.
What’s Next?
We are thrilled to embrace our next challenge and embark on our newest fundraiser in support of St John Ambulance. John is currently hard at work training for the London Marathon 2024, and we couldn’t be prouder of his progress. Already halfway to his fundraising goal of £2,000, we are filled with excitement and determination to make a meaningful impact on this vital cause.
Join us on this journey as we strive to achieve our target!
