So What Does Nick Say?
I left University with an engineering degree but knew I didn’t want to be an engineer, so thinking I’d be more suited to a career in sales I applied to several graduate sales engineering roles, one of those was being worked by a leading sales recruiter, and I was sold a career recruitment over a field sales job. The job of a recruiter isn’t ever easy but the challenges, opportunities and the varied role excited me so much, so I am still going a quarter of a century on.
I received the below message from a candidate I placed back in 2006. The most satisfying part of a recruiter’s job is when a candidate secures a job offer they have worked hard for and in some cases its life changing on many levels. One of the many positives (and they are plenty of negatives) is the buzz you get from delivering good news to someone that has worked hard and is grateful for the opportunity they have gained!
“Hi Nick,
I just wanted to reach out and wish you congratulations with your success at TalentTech. Having just seen your recent post I was fortunate to be placed by you, for a Business Development role back in 2006 during your days at BMS (if you can remember!). The coaching, advice, and direction you gave was excellent which led me to be a successful candidate for what ended up being a 9 year well thought out placement. I trust this finds you well and congratulations again.”
